Project Overview

Over eight months, Leadership Niagara will collaborate with 6-8 Niagara-based non-profit organizations to:

  • develop 6-8 Community Projects that will move the organizations' strategic mandates forward

  • expand non-profit agency project teams by four to six energized leaders who are eager to apply their skills and give back to their community
  • connect non-profit organizations with emerging leaders from private, public and voluntary sectors
  • address community issues while fostering collaboration

Community Project conditions
Organizations wishing to apply must:

  • be a registered non-profit organization in the Niagara Region

  • be realistic about expecations and Project outcomes - Leadership Niagara leaders have full-time jobs and about six months to work on the Project

  • dedicate one staff member in your agency to work with the Project team

  • recognize Leadership Niagara's support in all published materials and communications related to the Project

  • recognize that the ultimate responsibility for the project lies with the host organization

  • recognize that expenses incurred as a result of the project are the responsibility of the host organization
  • understand that projects must not be partisan or religious in nature; must not by used to solicit funds for a community organization; must not advocate for a partisan or non-partisan political purpose

While we realize projects may change in scope as the initiative progresses, Leadership Niagara participants are not subject to added responsibility unless agreed upon by the team and Leadership Niagara Executive Director.

Community Project selection process
Applications will be screened for suitability by Leadership Niagara's Community Project Review Committee. Suitable applicants will be invited to present their project to Leadership Niagara participants on October 17th. Leadership Niagara participants will choose which projects to take on.

Participant level of interest, group size and number of projects taken on each year varies.
